Tomahawk is a battle axe, which was used by the Indians of North America and by them it was also considered a symbol of war. The custom of "burying the tomahawk" or battle-axe signified peace, to dig it up was to recommence hostilities. The ax blade was originally made of stone and later made of iron from Europe.
Nowadays it is mainly used as a lighter throwing axe, they are much easier to throw than traditional throwing axes.
